Once a deacon always a deacon

Today is the anniversary of my being made deacon in 1970. This year I have completed 50 years of ministry but when I became an Anglican it was necessary for me to be reordained. I have always regarded it as supplementary ordination. But I am pleased to have served as deacon so that this ministry is still at the core of my priesthood.

Today we also commemorate the Wesleys - John and Charles - on the day of John's conversion. He was an Anglican priest at the time but God wished him to have a new pentecostal blessing for mission. This is my original tradition and I never want to invalidate the blessings of my Methodist upbringing and original ordination.

If more is yet needed I am open and receptive.
