Feast kept on this Saturday after the Sacred Heart.
Mary kept and pondered in her heart all the great deeds of God.
The Immaculate Heart is a heart which, with God's grace, has come to a perfect interior unity and therefore sees God. Because Mary's Immaculate Heart is attuned to Him and to the needs of others.
To be 'devoted' to the Immaculate Heart of Mary means to make Saying Yes to God - may His will be done - the defining centre of one's whole life, that the Kingdom may come.
A votive mass of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is said on the first Saturday of each month. The Fatima visionaries called for communions of reparation on first Saturdays.
On 13th June 1917 The Lady in White appeared a second time to the little shepherds at the Cova da Iria, Fatima promising to take Francisco and Jacinta to heaven very soon. "But you", she said to Lucia, "are to stay here some time longer. Jesus wishes to make use of you to make me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart...My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God." Then she opened her hands. "In front of the palm of Our Lady's right hand", Lucia tells us,"was a heart encircled by thorns which pierced it. We understood that this was the Immaculate Heart of Mary, outraged by the sins of humanity, and seeking reparation".
"In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph".
