Intimations of Unity

Smith Wigglesworth delivered a remarkable prophecy in 1947; "There will be a coming together of those with an emphasis on the Word and those with an emphasis on the Spirit. When the Word and the Spirit come together, there will be the biggest move of the Holy Spirit that the nations, and indeed, the world have ever seen. It will mark the beginningof a revival that will eclipse the revivals of former years.

There is no genuine revival without reconciliation.

In 1983 Pope John Paull II presented Du Plessis with the gold medal of 'Good Merit' for his 'service to all Christianity'. He was the first non Catholic to receive this honour. He was the first Protestant to be invited to attend Vatican II. In 1972 he was involved in Catholic/Pentecostal dialogues in Switzerland.

Charismatic Renewal is the only renewal movement in the Catholic Church which has originated outside it and there has always been a strong ecumenical dimension to the movement.

'The New International Dictionary of Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements(2002)' estimates 500 million Pentecostalists and Charismatics worldwide. 119 million of these active charismatics are post charismatic Catholics.
