Jesus, boats, fishermen are at the heart of the gospel stories.
It is very sad that Scarborough's last boatyard is to close - marking the end of one of the town's oldest traditions. The decision is due to the decline in demand related to Scarborough's disappearing fishing industry. It is the end of an era which can be traced back to the 17th century and to be commemorated on a plaque at the site of the yard. The last two boats will be auctioned on 8th December as a piece of local history. Boat moulds will go to form part of a display about the town's fishing industry.
Scarborough Marine Engineers has also built some of the ships used in the naval warfare attraction at Peasholm Park
