Lent Course

Locally there are several groups meeting to use this year's York Lent Course. I am attending an ecumenical group based in the local RC Church Hall on Thursday afternoons. The material is excellent and the fellowship first class.

Ash Wednesday, 6th February, sees the start of Lent. Lenten discipline usually centres around prayer, fasting, and charity. House, parish, and ecumenical groups here are all to study and discuss The Lord's Prayer using the York Course: York Course for Lent 2008.

York Courses have gathered another fine team for their Lent Course 2008 entitled:
THE LORD'S PRAYER praying it, meaning it, living it.

Participants on the CD/audio tape are:
DR David Hope introduces the course.
CANON MARGARET SENTAMU
BISHOP KENNETH STEVENSON
REVD DR DAVID WILKINSON DR ELAINE STORKEY - Reflections

The accompanying COURSE booklet - which includes questions for groups - is written by Canon John Young.

This course considers the world’s most famous prayer. In the Lord’s Prayer Jesus gives us a pattern for living as his disciples. He also raises vital questions for today’s world in which ‘Daily bread’ is uncertain for 2 billion people a refusal to ‘forgive those who trespass against us’ escalates violence.

The 5 sessions are : 1. Our Father 2. Thy will be done 3. Our Daily Bread 4. as we forgive 5. In Heaven.

I know that many of you across the country will also be using this material. Your comments about it will be welcome.
