SCARBOROUGH'S role as a film and TV location is the subject of a new documentary to be screened on Sunday.
The series Lights Camera Location is about places used in films and TV dramas and is presented by John Middleton, who plays the vicar Ashley Thomas in the ITV soap Emmerdale.

The film crew visited Scarborough over the summer and focused on how the hit movie Little Voice and TV show The Royal came to be shot in the town.

People who took part in the 1997 film starring Jane Horrocks were interviewed for the programme including musician Mike Lynskey, who was part of the band in the movie.

The documentary mixes footage from Little Voice with behind the scenes material of the film being made and shots of the locations as they are now.

Drama series The Royal also comes under the spotlight and residents whose homes are used during filming were interviewed.

The programme has been made by Really Good Productions, a TV company based in Yorkshire.

Producer Dee Marshall said: “It was so lovely to be filming in the town over the summer and I can understand why producers pick Scarborough as a location because it is the perfect British seaside town and most of the people we met seemed to enjoy having film crews in the town.”

Lights Camera Location is broadcast on ITV1 at 5.30pm
