Farnham will surprise you.  Just an hour’s drive from London, on modern high speed roads, take the turning and you enter a different world.

Farnham is an old English market town with narrow streets lined with some of the finest Georgian architecture in the South of England with a parish church and castle dating back to the 12thCentury.

Farnham has a host of attractions for visitors, and its historic character combines with the best of modern facilities.

With a wealth of tempting opportunities for escaping to the countryside, shopping, eating out, sightseeing, visiting galleries or just sitting in gardens and flower filled yards soaking up the enchanting atmosphere.

History and Heritage

Farnham is a town that successfully combines the old with the new, but a visit to Farnham without knowing and understanding its history and heritage is a visit unfinished.

Farnham has a Castle and Parish Church dating back to the 12th Century and was the home of the first Cistercian Abbey to be founded in Britain.  Farnham  Castle, Church (known as St Andrews Parish Church) and Abbey (know as Waverley Abbey) can all be visited today.

To view Farnham in the past a trip to the Museum of Farnham and Rural Life Centre are enjoyable for all.

Farnham is extremely proud of its history and enjoys sharing it with its visitors.

Farnham always has a warm welcome for visitors and we look forward to welcoming you!
