CAFOD Advent

E-ALERT NOVEMBER 2009
ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS

Pray with us this Advent, and please support our Christmas Appeal to help former child soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Thousands of children are still caught up in the conflict there, forced to become part of brutal armed groups. We hope to raise £150,000 to buy carpentry toolkits and the training they need to start a happier chapter in their life.

Nicolas Ntemuanengu, our DRC programme officer, says: "These children have been forced to become part of a brutal killing machine and are deeply traumatised. It is incredibly difficult to help them learn a peaceful new way of life.

"Yet, with incredible places like the centre in Goma, we have the tools to help. To help them back into family life would be a beautiful way to mark this special time of year."

Whatever you can afford really makes a difference.
