The Strata project at Central Offices explores the formal progressions of Chromatic colours and repetitive structures. The effect is to generate sensations of movement, light and space - visual experiences which also have a strong emotional and even visceral resonance. Strata provides an exploration and celebration of a fundamental human experience of colour. Using this particular buildings history, physicality and dominance as an evocation of the everyday, Murphy as intervened and reinterpreted the function of this former office block, challenging the viewer's assumptions or expectations as to where the 'real world' stops and art begins.

Strata allows for greater civic engagement and participation allowing time to rethink the overall line between everyday life and art. People can engage with these artworks and the thoughts they provoke everyday by walking passed them, being on a bus or train, it brings art to a much wider audience than in the environs of an art gallery.

Windows have been painted and transformed into panels of coloured glass. This leads to the transformation of a former office block into a canvas of expression.
