Five Days

This BBC drama is particularly absorbing because of local filming.

FIVE DAYS SERIES II

Suranne JonesFIVE DAYS (BBC) returns for a second series in 2010, and filmed in Leeds, Wakefield and Dewsbury in summer 2009, with Screen Yorkshire providing crew and locations support.Suranne Jones and David Morrissey head up the ensemble cast, both returning to Yorkshire after filming Unforgiven and Red Riding respectively here in 2008.

Starring in this gripping new drama serial written by Gwyneth Hughes (Miss Austen Regrets, Cherished), Suranne Jones returned to the region after starring in ITV's hit drama UNFORGIVEN (pictured above) in 2009, and David Morrissey is returning after the critically acclaimed RED RIDING trilogy hit our screens on Channel 4 back in March 2009.

The second series of FIVE DAYS filmed at the following Yorkshire locations:
- Kirkgate Station, Wakefield
- Ridings Centre, Wakefield
- Scarborough Beach, South bay and promenade
- Seacroft and Cookridge hospitals, Leeds
- Leeds University
- Leeds Metropolitan University
- Burley Streets
- Dewsbury town hall
- Dewsbury market
- Yorkshire Building Society, Kirklees
- Batley
- Pontefract town square

Andy Morgan, Location Manager, says of his experience shooting in the region: ''The joy of filming in Yorkshire is the sheer wealth of locations available to you. With Leeds, Bradford & Wakefield so close in proximity you have triple the amount of options for urban locations, yet on your doorstep you have some of (if not THE) most beautiful countryside in England. 'Five Days 2' was set in an anonymous West Yorkshire town which meant we could explore all these areas finding incredible locations to piece together our perfect town. The local authorities, ie. Police, Council & Highways, are very helpful towards filming as they feel it's good PR for the area and always makes for positive local interest stories in the press.

Screen Yorkshire played a huge part in the production of FD2 as we engaged their help on many occasion. They appear to know everyone and even when we suggested the most random and bizarre location, they somehow managed to find a contact and get us in. Wherever we filmed it felt like the red carpet had been laid out for us upon our arrival. Their approach to creating a film-friendly region is second to none and their constant support throughout FD2 was very helpful, particularly to the Locations Team.''

SYNOPSIS
A tiny newborn baby is abandoned in the toilets of a Yorkshire hospital. At the same time, the Trans-Pennine commuter train is halted by a suicidal jumper. Are they connected?

From this moment on, the lives of those onboard the train and in the hospital will be changed irrevocably, not least for DC Laurie Franklin (Suranne Jones), off-duty that day but travelling on the train with her mum (Anne Reid), who is recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

Laurie likes tying up loose ends. And if she can prove a connection between the body and the baby she will be happy. But things never turn out quite the way we expect. Who is the baby's mother? And who is the jumper? And was it just a simple case of suicide - or was it really a murder?

FIVE DAYS is an atmospheric ensemble drama; a mystery which unfolds over the five most significant days of the police investigation into these two mysteries. It is set in the heart of urban Yorkshire - a melting pot of tensions and relationships within a multicultural landscape. The first series of Five Days received BAFTA, RTS and Golden Globe nominations.

The ensemble cast includes: Suranne Jones (Unforgiven, Coronation Street), David Morrissey (Red Riding, Is Anybody There?), Anne Reid (In Love With Barbara, Hot Fuzz), Bernard Hill (Valkyrie, Titanic), Hugo Speer (Bleak House, The Full Monty), Derek Riddell (Ugly Betty, No Angels), Nina Sosanya (Casanova, Teachers), Steve Evets(Looking For Eric), Ashley Walters (Small Island, Bullet Boy), Shaun Dooley (Married, Single, Other; The Mark of Cain), Matthew McNulty (Cranford, The Shooting Of Thomas Hurndall), Navin Chowdhry (Sinchronicity, Teachers),Shivani Ghai (House Of Saddam), Sacha Dharwan (The History Boys, State Of Play), Cornell John (Kidulthood, Adulthood), Aaron Neil (White Girl), Philip Arditti (House Of Saddam), Kerry Condon (Rome), Chris Fountain(Hollyoaks).
