The Commemoration of All Souls

May the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace,
and rise in glory.

ASB Proper 16 "And now we give you thanks because through him you have given us the hope of a glorious resurrection; so that, although death comes to us all, yet we rejoice in the promise of eternal life; for to your faithful people life is changed, not taken away; and when our mortal flesh is laid aside, an everlasting dwelling place is made ready for us in heaven."

CCC1030 "All who die in God's grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven."

On All Souls' Day we particularly pray for the souls of the departed asking God to pour out his mercy, love and kindness on them.

ARCIC agreement "In Christ all the faithful, both living and departed, are bound together in a communion of prayer."
