Ulrika wins Celeb Big Brother crown
The former weathergirl said: "Oh my God, that's bonkers" after being told she had beaten music journalist Terry Christian to the top spot in the final of the celebrity reality show.
She took 56.7% of the votes, confounding bookies who had installed the diminutive Hollywood star Verne Troyer as favourite for the crown.
Bookmaker William Hill said Jonsson's victory was "the biggest shock in reality TV history".
Before Friday night's vote, the bookmaker had odds of 1/5 on Troyer winning the day, and put the chance of a Jonsson win at 12/1.
Christian was second with 43.3%. In third place was US rapper Coolio, while Troyer took fourth place and former singer Ben Adams came last.
Afterwards Jonsson - reportedly paid £175,000 for her appearance - said she could barely describe how she felt as she was "utterly wierded out at this particular point in time".
The 41-year-old, who was up for every public eviction during the three week contest, said she had not treated it as a popularity contest.
"That was not my approach because if I went in there hoping and wishing I was going to win it because I was really popular, I would be very upset because I have only ever won a yo-yo. For me it was just about a job and an experience."
Tommy Sheridan, La Toya Jackson, Michelle Heaton, Mutya Buena, Lucy Pinder and Tina Malone were the other housemates in the show.
"Swedish-born mum-of-four Ulrika — who irritated other housemates by being “bossy” — covered her mouth in shock when host Davina McCall revealed she had won.
The tears started to flow and she was still crying when she left the house — even though she was booed by the fans at Elstree Studios.
She had spent her first two weeks in the house moaning she wanted to leave.
But Ulrika won over viewers during her mad Endless Love duet with Verne — and for gamely putting up with the men.
She said: “This is singularly the weirdest experience of my life and I’ve had quite a weird life. I don’t regret going in.”
